Proton Therapy

It was such a pleasure to finally read an article ("The Cutting Edge: Killing Cancer with Protons," July/ August 2007) in a national publication dealing with proton treatment for cancer. It was very informative. I had cancer and decided on this treatment over all the other choices. Five years have now passed with no sign of cancer. The treatments were a walk in the park compared to all the other choices available.

I had my treatments at Loma Linda University Medical Hospital in California. I do not understand why this article appeared to avoid mentioning Loma Linda. Dr. Thornton states, "Now there are five centers in the United States." He mentions his own center, Anderson Medical Center and University of Florida. There is an omission of naming the additional two centers, why?. Loma Linda is an obvious exclusion. Shouldn't those living on the West Coast be informed they also have the advantage of a center for such treatment?
